Nike Gallery Submissions

Here are 3 images i submitted for a chance to be on the wall at the new Nike employee gallery at NikeTown London.

i wanted the work i submitted to still be a reflection on my work as an artist, but also equally representative of Nike and their values. it was a short deadline and i was currently working on other projects, however being new to the company and trying to network more as an artist it would have been an honour to be on the wall.

all three pieces reflect my interests as an artist, the eye for overlooked details, spatial awareness, lighting and composition, as well experimentative playfulness.

the use of the colour pallet is an example of how i often find influence within overlooked details and processes, the pallet was just an MDF block i used while painting an image on my foundation course, studying light,. I found the pallet just as interesting as the painting, it describes the users (my) thinking and methodology when you interpret the brush strokes, tones, excess amount of oils, etc. The image itself captures contrast and colour, seeing the painting more as a component of a sculpture caught on camera when along side the pallet.

Branding suggests that whatever it is placed on is a product and is intentional. digitally edited this close up to form a piece on its own by using the Nike swoosh bringing focus to the overlooked. this is completed by the ‘information on the piece’ found in galleries, the name of the artist being ‘Nike’ and the title of the piece, “colourful solutions for contemporary issues” is a play on the colour seen in the image, but also a word i feel reflects the innovation of Nike products, especially their focus on sustainability and self-lacing adapt range.

 *unfortunately i didn’t make the wall :(
